CMT Crossroads
Taping Is Followed With Surprise Visit to Legendary Nightspot

After performing for almost two hours Tuesday night (March 2) in Nashville, Kenny Chesney and Steve Miller followed a long country music tradition -- dating back to the days of Hank Williams -- by heading out the Ryman Auditorium's stage door, across the alley and into the back door of the historic Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.

They made the surprise visit to the legendary bar after taping an episode of CMT Crossroads. The performance at the Ryman featured hits from throughout the Steve Miller Band's long career and Chesney's years as a country star.

Songs they played included Miller's "The Joker," "Fly Like an Eagle" and "Jet Airliner" and the Chesney hits "I Go Back" and "Living in Fast Forward."

At Tootsie's, they took the small stage in the bar's front window, overlooking Lower Broadway, and played past midnight for a delighted crowd of Tootsie's regulars and tourists.

The informal set at Tootsie's included Miller's "Take the Money and Run," "Rock'n Me" and "Abracadabra" along with Chesney's "Living in Fast Forward," Hank Williams' "Mind Your Own Business" and Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Love Struck Baby."

No air date has been set for the Chesney-Miller Crossroads episode.
